At its core, Unearth Women is a celebration of the many women around the world whose stories often go untold and whose accomplishments too often go uncelebrated. With our feminist city guides, we strive to spotlight female business owners—from Bangkok to Buenos Aires—that are leveling the playing field and making a mark on their city. With our Women to Watch interviews, we ask women from all industries and backgrounds to share the story of how they got their business off the ground. Now, with our new #WomenOwned series we are proud to share women’s stories in a visually impactful way.

In the first season of #WomenOwned, we take you behind-the-scenes of some of New York’s most beloved female-owned businesses across all five boroughs. From bakeries to shops, we sit down and have candid conversations with the women who have successfully turned an idea into a brick-and-mortar reality.

The path to success is often riddled with obstacles, doubts, victories, and hard lessons—as a female entrepreneur, that path to success can often be trickier to navigate. In #WomenOwned we turn the camera on female entrepreneurs who share honest accounts of what it took to get their ideas off the ground.

In this first episode, we sit down with Butter & Scotch Co-Founder, Keavy Landreth to learn how Brooklyn’s most beloved feminist bakery-meets-bar got its start. Combining sprinkles, cakes, and cocktails behind a bright red storefront, we step into the colorful world of Butter & Scotch.

If you loved this first episode of #WomenOwned, make sure to subscribe to our weekly newsletter for updates on future episodes, which are shared monthly. Special thanks to our filmmaker/editor, Jeff Cerulli.

And if you’re a NYC based entrepreneur looking to get featured, send us an e-mail!
